Every year, people on Medicare receive a Plan Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) letter from their plan, showing in detail the changes in their Medicare plan for the upcoming year. The letter informs consumers of any changes to their coverage, service area, or costs associated with the plan. These letters are legal documents containing significant use of legal jargon that may be confusing or difficult to understand for many people. People receiving this letter for the first time may be particularly confused and in need of guidance. The letters go out in the fall and most consumers will have received them in September. Agents, this is your window of opportunity!

This is the time where many consumers may need clarification in navigating the changes to their plan and how these changes will affect them. Agents are in the position to assist in deciphering these changes. This is the perfect opportunity to offer them a complimentary Medicare review appointment. Explain to your prospective client that you can easily compare their current plans to other plans on the market to guarantee they are on the best plan for their needs and budget. Confused Medicare beneficiaries will be less likely to turn away complimentary assistance during this time. Other agents may not be consistently checking in with their clients to serve their needs, making this your opportunity to gain a new client through providing outstanding service that they won’t soon forget. By showing up for your client, connecting with them, and demonstrating your desire to serve them well, they will likely continue to seek service with you year after year.
